Job summary

Wiss in New York City seeks a Senior Accountant to own the close process, perform GL analysis, and ensure accurate financial reporting. You will drive improvements to automate workflows, rebuild the close, and support audits and investor reporting. Public accounting experience is highly preferred and ERP system proficiency is expected.

The role is based in NYC with 3 days onsite, offering competitive compensation and equity plus comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

3–5+ years of accounting experience across industry or public accounting.
Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and full close cycle experience.
Experience with ERP systems; familiarity with Rillet, Ramp, Maxio, Salesforce a plus.
Advanced Excel skills and comfort with large data sets.
Experience in SaaS or high-growth startups preferred.

Responsibilities

Own month-, quarter-, and year-end close processes and prep financial statements.
Perform flux and variance analysis, investigating discrepancies and trends.
Research and apply U.S. GAAP to non-standard transactions.
Assist with AP/AR and reconcile to the general ledger.
Support external audits and PBC with audit-ready documentation.
Support investor and board reporting post-Series C with Controllers.
Identify opportunities to improve close speed, accuracy, and scalability.
Lead automation and ERP-related process improvements.
