Job summary

Cherry Bekaert LLP is seeking a Senior Accountant to play a key role in the month-end close process, financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger accounting experience, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities include managing the close, reconciliations, budgeting support, and providing insights to business leaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and data analysis.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• CPA designation or CPA candidate preferred.
• Experience in construction/engineering or project-based industries is a plus.
• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement preparation.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end close process; prepare and review journal entries.
• Manage accounting for prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, and depreciation.
• Prepare account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of general ledger balances.
• Record and reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning.
• Perform variance analysis and investigate budget-to-actual fluctuations.
• Support monthly and annual financial statement preparation.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to business leaders.
• Assist with audit requests and process improvement initiatives.
