Job summary

SAS Builders, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting Department in Blacksburg, VA. This full-time role focuses on ensuring accurate financial reporting, reconciliations, and support for budgets and cash flow.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, at least 2 years in accounting, strong Excel and QuickBooks skills, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Comprehensive benefits available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (5+ years experience preferred).
• Or an Associate’s degree with accounting experience.
• At least 2 years’ experience in accounting.
• Well organized with the ability to prioritize.
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and problem solving.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• QuickBooks experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records and financial statements for accuracy and submission to Controller.
• Prepare account reconciliations (receivables, notes payable, intercompany).
• Update corporate debt sheet monthly across entities.
• Assist in budgets, forecasts, and cash flow forecasting.
• Assist with HUD application and audits.
• Assist management and project managers with project cost inquiries and reports.
• Assess current practices and recommend improvements.
• Compile year-end financial reports for income taxes.
• Compile, analyze and submit monthly construction draw requests to banks.
• Attend internal development project meetings as necessary.
• Monthly invoicing to single family home construction contracts.
• Support requests from banks.
• Process and submission of annual 1099s.
• Completion of annual workers compensation audit.
• Other duties as assigned.
