The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of accounting experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, and strong proficiency with QuickBooks Enterprise and construction-tracking software.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Details: Job Location: Christiansburg, VA 24073, Shah Development, an established, growing Class A General Contractor in Christiansburg, Virginia is seeking a skilled Construction Accountant to join our management team. You will oversee project costing, progress billings, subcontractor compliance, and general ledger maintenance. The ideal candidate understands the financial lifecycle of commercial and residential construction and excavation projects from estimation to closeout.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Costing: Track labor, equipment, materials and vendor invoices against established budget allocations.
• Progress Billings: Prepare customer invoices and bank draw requests as needed.
• Subcontractor Management: Verify lien waivers, certificates of insurance, and W-9 compliance.
• Tax Compliance: Perform reporting and payment of various state and federal taxes, including sales/use, highway use, real estate and personal property.
• Financial Reporting: Generate monthly profit-and-loss statements, work-in-progress (WIP) reports, cash flow/project equity reports and various complex internal tracking reports.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent job experience.
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience.
• Software Skills: QuickBooks Enterprise, Microsoft Office Suite, construction tracking software, general use of internet and AI resources.
• Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and clear communication.
