Job summary

Find Great People | FGP in Spartanburg, SC seeks a Senior Accountant to join a growing team. The role requires 5+ years of accounting experience with a focus on construction or real estate and offers full benefits in a permanent/direct-hire position.

You will prepare and review financial statements, manage month- and year-end closes, ensure GAAP compliance, and support audits, lender and investor reporting. CPA preferred; strong Excel and ERP skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience; public accounting experience preferred.
• Active CPA license or progress toward CPA certification is highly preferred.
• Experience in construction, land development, homebuilding, real estate, or project-based accounting preferred.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and financial reporting skills.
• Advanced Excel skills including financial modeling, Pivot Tables, and data management.
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
• Knowledge of project accounting, job costing, WIP, capitalization, fixed assets, and multi-entity accounting.
• Experience supporting lender compliance or debt reporting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and reporting schedules.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain strong internal accounting controls.
• Assist with audits, tax support, lender reporting, and investor reporting requirements.
• Manage project accounting activities, including job costing, budget tracking, land inventory accounting, and development expenditures.
• Analyze project performance by comparing actual results to budgets and identifying key variances.
• Monitor capitalized costs, project profitability, change orders, and development-related financial metrics.
• Collaborate with project managers and operational leaders to improve financial visibility and reporting accuracy.
• Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts, annual budgets, and long-range financial projections.
• Build and enhance financial models for forecasting, scenario analysis, project evaluation, and investment decisions.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, reporting automation, and financial system enhancements.
• Support special projects involving acquisitions, consolidations, due diligence, strategic analysis, and executive reporting.
