Staffers Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant (Audit Focus) to bridge day-to-day accounting operations with compliance verification. You will lead audit preparation, test internal controls, and work directly with auditors in a dynamic environment.

The role covers GAAP compliance, government standards where applicable, and close with variance analysis. Mentoring staff and driving accurate financial reporting are key parts of the job.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally combining corporate accounting with public accounting or internal audit exposure.
• CPA designation preferred or actively in progress; CIA is a strong plus.
• Strong US GAAP knowledge; GASB knowledge for government roles is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP); experience with major ERP/accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Sage).

Responsibilities

• Audit Coordination: manage annual, quarterly, or periodic audits.
• Documentation & testing: prepare workpapers, trial balances, schedules, and sample transactions.
• Internal controls: evaluate and monitor controls to prevent errors and mitigate risk.
• Policy review: audit purchases, expenses, and departmental accounts for compliance.
• Lead month-, quarter-, year-end close cycles and ensure accurate reporting.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations, bank statements, and cash flow reports.
• Variance analysis to support management decisions.
• Mentor junior staff and review accounting work.
