Job summary

Applied Research Associates (ARA) seeks a Senior Accountant to advance revenue recognition under ASC 606 and strengthen general ledger processes. You will support monthly closes, prepare management reports, and partner with IT to modernize ERP systems such as Deltek Costpoint and Workday Adaptive Planning.

The role requires five years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and the ability to implement automated, accurate reporting.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or closely related field required.
At least five years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and revenue recognition (ASC 606).
Experience with month-end close, general ledger reconciliations, and financial statement prep.
Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel.
Ability to research technical accounting matters and communicate conclusions effectively.

Responsibilities

Perform ASC 606 revenue recognition activities including contract evaluation and period-end reporting.
Analyze complex contracts and document accounting conclusions.
Support revenue reporting, variance analysis, and contract closeout activities.
Improve financial statement preparation and reporting through ERP and tools.
Maintain internal controls and support audit inquiries.
Collaborate with IT and finance to improve data accuracy and automation.
