Job summary

Origin Staffing is assisting a Controller with a #2 position to support accounting and reporting for a newly acquired franchise restaurant platform. The role emphasizes technical GAAP work, research into complex accounting issues, and helping build scalable processes in a growing investment and operating platform.

The ideal candidate has 4–8 years of accounting experience, strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, and familiarity with ASC 606/842, business combinations, and purchase accounting.

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of accounting experience including public/technical accounting
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and ability to document technical accounting matters
• Experience with ASC 606, ASC 842, business combinations or related topics
• Experience preparing technical accounting memos and coordinating with external auditors
• Solid grasp of financial statements, close processes, and accounting controls
• CPA preferred, public accounting background advantageous
• Restaurant/franchise/hospitality/PE-backed experience a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

Responsibilities

• Research and document complex accounting matters under U.S. GAAP (ASC 606, ASC 842, business combinations)
• Prepare technical accounting memos and supporting documentation for significant transactions
• Support purchase accounting related to acquisitions, including opening balance sheet considerations
• Review contracts to determine correct accounting treatment
• Assist with lease accounting across a large multi-location restaurant footprint
• Support revenue recognition matters for franchise fees and royalties
• Partner with accounting leadership during month-, quarter-, and year-end closes
• Support external audit requests and document accounting conclusions
• Help develop accounting policies, procedures, and controls
• Collaborate across accounting, finance, operations to translate business activity into accounting treatment
• Assist acquisition integration and other special projects

Broad responsibilities:

• Research and document complex accounting matters under U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition, ASC 842 leases, and accounting for business combinations
• Prepare technical accounting memos and supporting documentation for significant or non-routine transactions
• Support purchase accounting related to acquisitions, including opening balance sheet considerations and acquisition-related accounting
• Review contracts and business arrangements to determine appropriate accounting treatment
• Support lease accounting across a large multi-location restaurant and franchise footprint
• Assist with revenue recognition matters related to franchise fees, royalties, and other revenue streams
• Partner with accounting leadership during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close on complex accounting matters
• Support external audit requests and provide clear documentation around technical accounting conclusions
• Help develop accounting policies, procedures, controls, and documentation as the organization continues to build out its accounting infrastructure
• Partner across accounting, finance, operations, and other teams to understand transactions and translate business activity into appropriate accounting treatment
• Support acquisition integration and other special accounting projects as the business continues to evolve

Qualifications:

• 4 - 8 years of accounting experience, ideally including public accounting and/or technical accounting experience
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and experience researching and documenting technical accounting matters
• Experience with ASC 606, ASC 842, business combinations, purchase accounting, or other complex accounting topics
• Experience preparing technical accounting memos and working with external auditors
• Strong understanding of financial statements, close processes, and accounting controls
• CPA strongly preferred
• Public accounting experience preferred
• Restaurant, franchise, hospitality, multi-unit retail, consumer, or PE-backed experience is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
