Job summary

Origin Staffing seeks a Technical Accounting Lead to own complex accounting matters across a growing multi-brand restaurant platform with both company-operated and franchised locations. You’ll shape policy, deliver memos, and guide transactions from acquisitions to lease accounting and business combinations.

This hands-on, high-visibility role partners with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, offering broad ownership, process improvements, and the chance to implement efficient systems

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, incl. public company audit/advisory.
• Strong US GAAP knowledge, esp. ASC 606, 842, and 805; able to research complex matters.
• Active CPA license preferred.
• Restaurant/franchise or multi-unit retail experience a plus; Sage Intacct familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical accounting across a complex restaurant/franchise portfolio with focus on ASC 606/842/805.
• Research and apply US GAAP guidance to acquisitions, refranchisings, divestitures, impairments, debt arrangements and other complex transactions.
• Oversee acquisition accounting, including opening balance sheets and purchase price allocations.
• Prepare technical accounting memos, establish accounting policies, and partner with cross-functional teams.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and footnote disclosures for PCAOB audits.
• Review month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes across brands and entities with strong controls.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen processes and automate reporting, including lease accounting.
• Direct offshore accounting resources supporting close activities.

We are looking for a Technical Accounting Lead to join a growing, multi-brand restaurant investment and operating platform with a portfolio spanning company-operated and franchised locations. The biggest draw here is the breadth of the role and the opportunity to take real ownership of complex accounting matters across a dynamic business. Rather than being limited to writing technical memos or specializing in one accounting area, you'll be involved in everything from acquisitions, franchise revenue recognition, and complex lease arrangements to business combinations, impairments, financial reporting, and other significant transactions.

This is a highly visible, hands‑on position within a lean finance organization where you'll work closely with senior leadership and teams across finance, real estate, development, and legal. You'll have the opportunity to shape accounting policies, influence how new transactions are structured, strengthen reporting and controls, and help build more efficient systems and processes. It's an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong public accounting or technical accounting background who enjoys solving complex problems and wants broader ownership inside an evolving business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical accounting across a complex restaurant/franchise portfolio, with significant focus on ASC 606 (revenue recognition), ASC 842 (leases), and ASC 805 (business combinations)
• Research and apply US GAAP guidance to acquisitions, refranchisings, divestitures, impairments, debt arrangements, and other complex transactions
• Oversee acquisition accounting, including opening balance sheets, purchase price allocations, and related financial reporting
• Prepare technical accounting memos, establish accounting policies, and partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate new agreements and transactions
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and footnote disclosures to PCAOB audit standards, while serving as a key contact for external auditors
• Review month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities across multiple brands and legal entities, ensuring accurate reconciliations, controls, and reporting
• Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, improve systems, and automate reporting, including oversight of lease accounting and fixed asset systems
• Direct and review the work of offshore accounting resources supporting close activities, reconciliations, and financial schedules

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public company audit or advisory experience
• Strong technical US GAAP knowledge, particularly ASC 606, ASC 842, and ASC 805, with the ability to independently research complex accounting matters
• Experience preparing financial statements, footnote disclosures, and supporting documentation suitable for PCAOB audits
• Comfortable working in a hands‑on environment, improving processes, and leveraging technology and AI tools to increase efficiency
• Active CPA license strongly preferred
• Restaurant, franchise, or multi‑unit retail industry experience is a plus, as is familiarity with Sage Intacct, lease accounting platforms, and outsourced accounting teams
