Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post accurate journal entries and perform balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset records including depreciation schedules.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities and reporting.
  • Assist with accounts payable functions and processing vendor payments.
  • Assist with preparation of resident invoices and remittances.

Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing advanced accounting functions in support of the organization’s financial operations, including cash accounting, accounts payable, payroll, resident invoicing, and month-end and year-end close activities. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, performing complex reconciliations, and supporting timely and accurate financial reporting.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant works independently on key accounting processes, provides analytical insight over significant account balances, and supports continuous improvement of accounting systems, controls, and workflows.

Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and GAAP.
  • Demonstrated experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in healthcare, senior living, or long-term care environments.
  • Experience with payroll processing systems (Paylocity preferred).
  • Experience with fixed asset accounting and depreciation.
  • Experience supporting audits and regulatory reporting.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and explain financial data.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare and post accurate and timely journal entries and perform balance sheet reconciliations and analytics over significant account balances.
  • Review and analyze general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP.
  • Maintain, review, and reconcile fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations and required documentation.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Review and process team member expense reports in accordance with company policy.
  • Post bank transactions and complete monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with accounts payable functions, including remitting and recording vendor payments.
  • Assist with preparation resident invoices, resident remittances. and ensure accuracy of billing records.
  • Assist payroll processing, including recording payroll-related journal entries.
  • Maintain and validate data integrity across key financial systems.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to information requests.
  • Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.
  • Compl y with all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including HIPAA and the Code of Conduct, completing required training and reporting concerns promptly.

  • Frequently required to concentrate on tasks involving moderate to fine detail with some to constant interruption.
