Job summary

Bison® is seeking a Senior Accountant to fortify cost accounting, financial analysis, and reporting across our Whitsett manufacturing operations. You will partner with operations to optimize budgets, improve cost-efficiency, and ensure accurate financial statements in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include cost system setup, daily recording, inventory cost analysis, variance reporting, and support for audits and Sarbanes-Oxley controls while applying AI tools to boost productivity

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in cost accounting or financial analysis within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Oracle, SAP, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) or similar ERP systems (preferred).
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills preferred.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• High level of integrity and respect for confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Cost System Setup & Maintenance: Maintain and update cost standard files; collaborate with manufacturing, engineering and supply chain departments to ensure accurate cost roll-ups.
• Transactional Recording & Accuracy: Book sales, intercompany transfers, labor, and inventory transactions accurately; Prepare journal entries and verify the accuracy of monthly financial statements.
• Inventory & Cost Analysis: Prepare and reconcile monthly plant inventories and general ledger entries; Collect, analyze, and report on operational and manufacturing costs; Conduct annual physical inventory reconciliations and standard cost reevaluations.
• Financial Reporting & Variance Analysis: Generate financial reports and present variance analysis; Perform account reconciliations and profit analysis.
• Strategic Advisory & Budget Monitoring: Monitor plant activities for alignment with financial and capital budgets; Advise management on cost optimization strategies and process improvements.
• Audit & Compliance: Audit internal controls and indirect purchase reports; Support external audit processes including Sarbanes-Oxley; Assist with regulatory duties and miscellaneous financial projects.
