Job summary

Ibis Recruiting is assisting a South Florida client in finding a Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This highly visible role requires ownership of the monthly close and collaboration across departments to drive process improvements.

The successful candidate will support monthly and quarterly reporting, maintain the general ledger, and assist with audits, leveraging strong GAAP knowledge and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in GAAP accounting and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement prep.
• Excellent Excel skills and ability to handle large datasets.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned areas of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and schedules.
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts and investigate variances.
• Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
• Maintain accurate general ledger activity and ensure GAAP-compliant transactions.
• Assist with external audit requests and documentation.
• Partner with FP&A, operations, and other teams to resolve accounting matters.
• Support accounting for fixed assets, leases, debt, or other complex balance sheet areas.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
• Assist with ad hoc analyses as the organization grows.

Job description

A well-established, growth-oriented company in South Florida is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This is a highly visible role within a sophisticated finance organization and an excellent opportunity for an accountant who enjoys owning key areas of the close, working across departments, and improving processes within a growing business.

The Senior Accountant will support monthly and quarterly financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and other core accounting activities. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in GAAP accounting, excellent Excel skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a broader finance and accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

• Own assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts and investigate variances
• Support preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting
• Maintain accurate general ledger activity and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP
• Assist with external audit requests and preparation of supporting documentation
• Partner with FP&A, operations, and other internal teams to research and resolve accounting matters
• Support accounting for fixed assets, leases, debt, or other complex balance sheet areas as assigned
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
• Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as the organization continues to grow

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Approximately 3–6+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
• Experience with month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large or complex datasets
• Experience with a major ERP or accounting system; NetSuite experience is highly valued
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Clear communicator who works effectively across teams

Preferred Background

• Combination of public accounting and corporate accounting experience
• CPA or CPA-track experience is a plus
• Experience within real estate, infrastructure, telecommunications, financial services, or another asset-intensive business is helpful but not required
• Experience working within a growing or evolving accounting organization
