Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with month-end financial statement review and research variances.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate items.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and research reconciling items.
  • Research and resolve payment exceptions (NSF, stale-dated checks).
  • Review security deposit disposition accounting and move-out accounting.
  • Coordinate with insurance vendors for casualty loss tracking.

About the Position

Elevate Living is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our accounting team at our c orporate office in Wayzata, MN. This is a senior level position designed for a n accounting professional with 2+ years of experience.

This position will provide hands‑on experience across a broad range of accounting functions, including financial statement review, balance sheet and bank reconciliations, fixed assets, insurance incident tracking, purchase order review , HUD audit support , and more . You’ll work closely with our accounting and property management teams while gaining exposure to the financial operations of a growing multifamily real estate company.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assist with month -end financial statement review and research unusual transactions or account variances.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate outstanding or unusual items.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and research reconciling items.
  • Research and resolve returned payments, NSF transactions, canceled or denied checks, stale-dated checks, and other payment exceptions.
  • Review security deposit disposition accounting and mailing of final accounting of resident move outs .
  • Communicating with insurance vendors and tracking casualty loss incidents through completion of repairs .
  • Tracking and resolving discrepancies with purchase orders .
  • Maintain fixed asset records and assist with recording additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Assist with HUD and other financial audit preparation, including gathering supporting documentation .
  • Develop process improvements of accounting functions with creation of AI assisted tools.
  • Assist with special projects, reporting, and other accounting responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, or a related field.
  • Accountants with 2+ years of experience are encouraged to apply. HUD audit and Yardi experience is a plus .
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and an interest in developing advanced Excel and financial analysis capabilities. A.I. experience is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills .
  • Willingness to ask questions, learn new processes, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
