Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in real estate ownership, development, construction, or investment.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
  • Experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions.
  • Real estate development and construction accounting experience required.
  • CPA or CPA-track experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting for multiple real estate development, ownership, and investment entities.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements at the entity level and consolidated basis.
  • Record and reconcile development costs, construction expenditures, financing costs, and other project-related activity.
  • Track project budgets, actual costs, commitments, cash flow, and funding requirements.
  • Review invoices and project expenditures for proper coding, classification, and capitalization.
  • Assist with construction draws, lender reporting, acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancings.
  • Prepare budget-to-actual analyses and other financial reporting for senior management.
  • Coordinate closely with outside tax consultants and CPAs for tax filings.
  • Support annual audits, tax filings, and year-end close processes.

Position Summary:

They are seeking an experienced Senior Project Accountant who will be responsible for managing accounting and financial reporting across multiple real estate projects and corporate entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial information while supporting the Company’s broader accounting, tax, and reporting requirements. This person will take ownership of the day-to-day accounting function and build the accounting infrastructure needed to support a growing real estate and development business.

The successful candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting professional who can manage the accounting for multiple entities and projects while understanding the broader financial and tax implications of the Company's activities. They are comfortable working independently, communicating with outside advisors, and taking ownership of their responsibilities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accounting & Close
  • Manage day-to-day accounting for multiple real estate development, ownership, and investment entities.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements at the entity level and consolidated basis.
  • Record and reconcile development costs, construction expenditures, financing costs, and other project-related activity.
  • Track project budgets, actual costs, commitments, cash flow, and funding requirements.

  • Coordinate closely with outside tax consultants and CPAs by providing trial balances, schedules, supporting documentation, and other information required for tax filings.
  • Assist with partnership tax and trust tax reporting, K-1 support, depreciation schedules, fixed asset records, and tax-basis reconciliations.
  • Support annual audits, tax filings, and year-end close processes.

  • Maintain organized and accurate accounting records across all entities.
  • Identify accounting and tax issues, research discrepancies, and work independently to resolve them.
  • Assist in improving accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls as the Company grows by leveraging technology.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in real estate ownership, development, construction, or investment.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of Tax Accounting and reconciliation with GAAP.
  • Experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions.
  • Real estate development and construction accounting experience is required.
  • Familiarity with partnership accounting, capital accounts, contributions, and distributions.
  • Experience working directly with outside tax advisors and CPAs.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills.
  • CPA or CPA-track experience is a plus.
