AAA Mountain West Group seeks a Senior Accountant to manage accounting systems, financial reporting, and complex issues requiring in-depth evaluation of variables. You will direct the application of GAAP, lead the close process, and ensure data integrity across the organization.

The role emphasizes Workday ERP oversight, asset management, audit support, and collaboration with external contacts to achieve strategic financial targets. Hybrid work with a Walnut Creek, CA presence is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of related experience, or 6 years with a Master’s degree, or 12 years without a Bachelor’s degree.
• Active CPA license (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Directs general ledger maintenance and ensures data accuracy.
• Oversees complex transaction flows in Workday ERP and resolves system exceptions.
• Leads month-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Manages fixed asset policies, depreciation, and disposals per GAAP.
• Supports internal and external audits with thorough documentation.
• Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to meet targets.

JOB SUMMARY

Our Senior Accountant exhibits advanced, wide-ranging experience to manage and direct the maintenance of accounting systems and financial reporting. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments, directing the application of existing principles and working on complex issues requiring an in-depth evaluation of variable factors to ensure overall organizational financial success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

General Ledger (GL) Maintenance

• Directs the application of existing GL principles, developing creative solutions for continuous close readiness and overarching financial data accuracy.

System Oversight

• Oversees complex transaction flows within the Workday ERP, determining advanced methods to resolve in-depth, intricate system exceptions and ensuring optimal data integrity.

Month-End Execution

• Leads comprehensive month-end execution, evaluating variable factors to architect complex journal entries, accruals, and sophisticated corporate bank reconciliations.

Asset Management

• Manages advanced fixed asset policies, determining and directing procedures for recording depreciation and disposals in alignment with complex GAAP and company objectives.

Audit Support

• Provides advanced solutions during internal and external audit reviews, directing responses based on an in-depth evaluation of critical financial documents.

Collaboration

• Networks with key external contacts and wider firm partners, delivering persuasive financial messages and taking accountability for team delivery of tactical business targets.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

• In-depth professional knowledge of advanced accounting concepts, GAAP, complex modeling, and broader company objectives.
• Expert-level mastery of Workday ERP, automated accounting frameworks, and advanced analytical modeling.
• Exercises independent judgment in selecting methods, directs the application of principles, and resolves complex interdisciplinary financial issues creatively.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES / CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related Business field
• Minimum of 8 years of related experience, or 6 years and a Master’s degree, or 12 years of related experience without a Bachelor’s degree
