Job summary

Legends Global is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for the Henrico Sports & Events Center. This hands-on role leads day-to-day accounting, closes monthly books, reviews journal entries, and collaborates with leadership to improve processes.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong general ledger and month-end close experience.
• Experience with financial statements, account reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• CPA or other professional accounting designation.
• Governmental accounting or GASB experience.
• Supervisory or accounting team leadership experience.
• Sports, entertainment, hospitality, venue, nonprofit, or event-industry experience.
• Experience with Sage 50/Quantum or similar accounting software.
• External audit experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly financial close process and ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end activities.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, adjusting entries, and general ledger activity.
• Prepare and review bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory, and other accounting functions.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, forecasts, budget-to-actual reports, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze financial results and explain significant variances and trends.
• Establish and maintain effective accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Coordinate annual external audit materials and work directly with external auditors.

THE ROLE

Legends Global is seeking an experienced Accounting Coordinator to serve as the lead accounting resource for the Henrico Sports & Events Center. This is a hands-on accounting leadership role for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems, improving processes, and working closely with operations and finance leadership.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead accounting resource for the facility and oversee day-to-day accounting operations
• Lead the monthly financial close process and ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end activities
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, adjusting entries, and general ledger activity
• Prepare and review bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory, and other accounting functions
• Prepare monthly financial statements, forecasts, budget-to-actual reports, and supporting schedules
• Analyze financial results and explain significant variances and trends
• Maintain accurate supporting documentation for financial transactions, reconciliations, and journal entries
• Coordinate annual external audit materials and work directly with external auditors
• Establish and maintain effective accounting procedures and internal controls
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and efficiency
• Provide leadership, training, review, and support to accounting staff
• Partner with the General Manager and Regional Finance Team on financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis
• Provide hands-on support and backup to accounting staff as needed
• Perform other accounting and financial responsibilities as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends Global policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
