Job summary

Carrington Mortgage Holdings seeks a Senior Accountant for the Title Division to perform GAAP accounting, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet analysis from a remote home office in the United States.

You will support quarterly and year-end audits, manage wire transfers, and collaborate with treasury and lending operations to ensure accurate revenue and expense recording across the Vylla and MLD divisions. A BA/BS in Accounting and 3–5 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business or equivalent practical experience.
  • Three to five years of general accounting/finance experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel and knowledge of Oracle ERP accounting software preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication.
  • Must work PST zone hours; West Coast residence preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and record bank activities in general ledger.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Manage internal and external wire transfers.
  • Analyze and reconcile balance sheet and income statement fluctuations to GAAP.
  • Assist with quarterly and year-end audits.
  • Maintain internal controls and company policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues.
  • Record fair value adjustments and monthly hedging entries (MLD).
  • Reconcile lending-related revenue and expense accounts.
  • Coordinate with treasury for daily funding and accurate recording.
  • Validate pass-through fees and ensure accurate revenue recording.

The Senior Accountant for the Title Division performs general accounting functions and various analyses using GAAP procedures that involve general ledger, balance sheet, income statement accounts, ledger reconciliation, preparation of data for journal entries, and financial statements. Perform all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, all US state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates. The target pay range for this position is $36.00 - $46.00 an hour + Annual Bonus. Pay is based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

What you'll do:
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and record bank activities in general ledger.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and detailed balance sheet account reconciliations, including account receivable, prepaids, accruals and other liability accounts.
  • Responsible for internal and external wire transfers.
  • Review, analyze and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts for fluctuation at month end close to ensure results are in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Assists with quarterly and year-end audits.
  • Maintain financial security by following internal controls and established company policies.
  • Interact with other departments as necessary to resolve issues.
MLD Division:
  • Record initial recognition of fair value adjustments.
  • Record and validate monthly Interest rate lock entries.
  • Record monthly hedging activity and confirm receipt of settlement funds.
  • Reconcile and analyze lending-related revenue and expense accounts.
  • Work with Treasury to ensure daily funding and sales are recorded accurately.
  • Coordinate with lending operations to validate fees are recorded accurately.
  • Reconcile warehouse line cash and liability accounts.
  • Prepare Quarterly reports.
Vylla Division:
  • Reconcile and analyze title-related revenue and expense accounts.
  • Coordinate with title operations to validate fees are recorded accurately.
  • Reconcile and validate pass through activity is recorded accurately and pass through amounts are received.
  • Record cash activity and confirm correct amounts were received.
  • Reconcile and analyze cost related accounts.
What you'll need:
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business or equivalent practical experience
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of general accounting/finance experience required.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and knowledge of Oracle ERP accounting software preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (oral and written) and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must work PST zone hours. Prefer candidates that live on the West Coast.
