Job summary

Elastic is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead multi-entity close, FX accounting, and intercompany processes. The role focuses on accurate financial reporting, COA maintenance, and integration of acquired entities.

You will collaborate with finance, treasury, and IT to automate journal generation, validate data, and support audits. A CPA and ERP experience strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional accounting experience with progressive responsibility.
• Experience in system UAT testing, software implementations, and financial transformation projects.
• Advanced Excel capabilities with complex formulas and modeling.
• Proactive with AI accounting tools and generative automation.
• Experience with FX accounting, intercompany AR/AP, transfer pricing, and multi-entity consolidations.
• Hands-on ERP experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data extraction and automation.
• Experience with M&A accounting integration and COA maintenance.

Responsibilities

Job description

• We are seeking an experienced, tech-forward Senior Accountant as part of our rapid organizational growth
• Working with cross Accounting, finance, and treasury teams you will perform month-end close execution, foreign exchange accounting, intercompany transactions, transfer pricing calculations, and complex balance sheet reconciliations
• You will also participate in project automation and process improvement, leveraging tools; including Python, Sigma, SQL, and AI capabilities, to streamline legacy workflows and enhance reporting accuracy
• Support on month-end close activities, including complex journal entries, financial accruals, intercompany eliminations, transfer pricing calculations, intercompany AR/AP billing, and FX variance analysis
• Perform secondary book validation and ensure accuracy across multi-entity and statutory reporting ledgers
• Assist with M&A opening balance sheet preparation and support monthly journal entries until acquired companies are fully integrated into Elastic
• Maintain and update the Chart of Accounts (COA) to support evolving business structures and reporting requirements
• Perform financial statement flux analysis (MoM, QoQ, YoY) to evaluate account behavior and deliver meaningful insights to finance leadership
• Assist with audit preparation, balance sheet disclosures, and internal control compliance (SOX); help build reports and balance sheet reconciliations
• Support process improvement and automation initiatives by leveraging the appropriate tools and languages; such as Python scripts, SQL queries, Sigma, and Excel Macros (VBA) to automate repetitive data processing and journal preparation
• Execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and data validation for systems implementations, ERP enhancements, and continuous software integration projects
• Collaborate on foreign currency exchange (FX) management and multi-entity accounting across global subsidiaries
• Utilize cutting-edge AI tools and workflow automation to eliminate operational bottlenecks, increase accuracy, and modernize daily ledger operations
• Produce ad-hoc financial reporting, data analysis, and support special cross-functional finance projects

• 5+ years of professional accounting experience demonstrating progressive responsibility
• Proven experience participating in system UAT testing, software implementations, and financial transformation projects
• Advanced Excel technical capabilities (complex logic formulas, index/match, pivot modeling)
• Early adopter mindset regarding AI accounting tools and generative automation to streamline workflows
• Experience with foreign currency (FX) accounting, intercompany AR/AP billing, transfer pricing, and multi-entity global consolidations across global subsidiaries
• Strong hands-on experience with major Enterprise ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) power user
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field (mandatory; CPA preferred)
• Demonstrated technical proficiency in Python and SQL for financial data extraction, cleaning, and workflow automation
• Experience with M&A accounting integration, opening balance sheet setup, Chart of Accounts maintenance, and secondary ledger validation
