About the Senior Accountant Position:

The ideal candidate will have substantial exposure to monthly closing processes, forecasting and budgeting, and customer billing. They will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset, with at least 2 years in the furniture industry.

Responsibilities

• Ensure business transactions are reported by generally accepted accounting principles.
• Work closely with team members to assist with the month‑end close.
• Assist with the annual audit process including the draft of the financial statements and related notes.
• Research and analyze expense variances for company management.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
• Ensure proper revenue recognition and cost alignment using the matching principle, especially for project‑based and milestone‑driven orders.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and perform month‑end close activities.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Maintain accurate WIP schedules for open orders, tracking order status, deposits, costs, and revenue recognition timing.
• Analyze and reconcile WIP to ensure proper cost capitalization and timely project closeouts.
• Collaborate with project managers to align actual project progress with financial reporting.
• Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting.
• Conduct variance analysis between actual results and budgets/forecasts.
• Identify and explain key financial trends, anomalies, or risks.
• Identify opportunities for automation and improved processes in financial reporting and order tracking.
• Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial data.
• Document and maintain accounting policies and procedures, with a focus on project‑based operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the furniture industry or project‑based environments.
• Strong understanding of matching principles and WIP accounting.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage) and Excel (pivot tables, lookups).
• Familiarity with project management tools or ERP systems used in the furniture industry (e.g., e‑manage|ONE, TeamDesign) is a plus.
• 100% Remote.
