Job summary

Certus Pest, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to own defined accounting areas within Finance for both pool and pest divisions. You will manage lease accounting, payroll accruals, revenue recognition, and monthly close with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.

The role supports flux analysis, audits, and year-end financial statement prep, with exposure to M&A activity. Strong US GAAP knowledge and Sage Intacct experience preferred; onsite in Tampa, FL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
• CPA or active CPA candidacy strongly preferred.
• Experience with lease accounting (ASC 842) and purchase accounting/goodwill preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lease Accounting (ASC 842)—monthly close, vehicle leases, reclassifications and amortization.
• Payroll, benefits & compensation accruals and headcount reporting.
• Record standard entries and accruals, including goodwill amortization and cost accruals.
• Cash receipts—daily GL export and bad debt expense booking; reconcile card receipts.
• Revenue—postings and reconciliations from multiple platforms.
• Assist with P&L flux analysis and monthly close timelines.
• Support intercompany activity, balance sheet reconciliations, and audit readiness.

Senior Accountant - Full-time, Onsite

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant owns defined technical areas within Finance & Accounting for both pool and pest divisions — including lease accounting, payroll and compensation accruals, recording revenue and cash receipts, end to end. The role is accountable for accurate, timely monthly close and reconciliations within its scope, and supports flux analysis, the annual audit and tax PBC process, financial statement preparation, and M&A activity as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Lease Accounting (ASC 842) owns the monthly finance and operating lease close, including vehicle lease allocations from the third-party fleet administrator, invoice review, lease expense recognition, reclasses, finance/operating lease additions, payments, interest, and amortization.
• Payroll, Benefits & Compensation Accruals — own the monthly payroll, benefits, and compensation-related accrual entries, and preparation of associated monthly headcount reports.
• Monthly Standard Entries — record recurring monthly entries and accruals, including goodwill amortization and standard cost accruals, maintaining supporting schedules for each.
• Cash Receipts — own the daily cash receipts export to the general ledger and booking of bad debt expense, including reconciling credit card receipts to company activity.
• Revenue — own all revenue postings and reconciliation from FMS to the general ledger, across all platforms.
• P&L Flux Analysis — assist with the monthly P&L flux analysis for wages, commissions, vehicle expense, regional overhead, and customer support centers.
• Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations — prepare reconciliations as needed including intercompany activity, lease, payroll and compensation, benefits, goodwill, equity, and holdback/promissory note accounts — with variances researched and cleared timely and support retained to audit standard.
• Audit & Tax Support — assist with the annual financial statement audit and tax PBC (prepared-by-client) requests within owned areas.
• Financial Statement Preparation — assist in preparing annual financial statements for legal entities as required by audit, including footnote disclosures.
• M&A Support — assist with finance tasks assigned in connection with M&A activity.

Technical Competencies

• Working knowledge of US GAAP, with practical depth in ASC 842 (leases) and ASC 606 (revenue/capitalization) as applied to this role's scope.
• Strong general ledger, journal entry, and account reconciliation skills, with the judgment to research and resolve variances independently.
• Advanced Excel proficiency (lookups, pivot tables, schedule-building) and comfort working directly in the ERP system; experience with Sage Intacct is a plus.
• Ability to build and maintain clean, auditable supporting schedules (e.g., lease schedules, goodwill amortization, accrual roll-forwards).

• Owns the full monthly close calendar for all assigned areas, delivering cross-team dependencies on schedule without follow-up needed.
• Serves as the team's go-to resource for lease accounting, payroll/compensation accruals, and related balance sheet activity.
• Proactively identifies and implements process improvements in owned schedules and reconciliations.
• Contributes independently to auditing PBC requests and the legal entity financial statement and footnote preparation process.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close and balance sheet reconciliation ownership.
• CPA or active CPA candidacy strongly preferred.
• Experience with lease accounting (ASC 842) and purchase accounting/goodwill preferred.
• Experience in a multi-entity, private-equity-backed, or holding-company reporting structure is a plus.
