Job description

Firm Background:

Schreiber Accounting and Advisory PLLC is a small CPA firm located in Sewickley, PA. The firm is seeking to add an experienced Senior Associate to the team. The firm’s clients are small businesses, nonprofits, and individuals primarily located in the Greater Pittsburgh area.

The Opportunity:

The firm is seeking a full-time senior accountant to assist in providing services to its growing client base. The person selected for this role will primarily provide bookkeeping, payroll processing, tax preparation, tax planning, business advisory and financial statement compilation and review services.

What You Will Do:
  • Be the primary point of contact within the firm for assigned clients
  • Take charge of providing accounting, payroll processing, tax preparation, and consulting services for assigned clients, including signing tax returns as the preparer and taking responsibility for the overall client relationship
  • Effectively plan engagements, communicate with clients, meet deadlines and prepare workpapers to firm standards
  • Develop a deep understanding of small business, nonprofit, and individual clients; their needs; and how to best serve them
  • Take charge of certain service delivery tasks firm-wide, such as payroll tax compliance and 1099 processing
  • Research and resolve issues with the ability to document and convey results in a clear and concise manner
  • Become an expert in the various software applications used in providing these services
  • Display an understanding and respect for professional standards
  • Assist with business development (write short blog posts for our website and social platforms, attend networking events, represent the firm positively to prospective clients and business partners, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned
Compensation:

Salary is expected to fall between $75,000 and $95,000 per year, based on skills and experience. This position will also be eligible for performance incentives tied to firm-wide goals, employer retirement plan contributions, an employer health reimbursement arrangement, paid time off, paid holidays, and firm-paid Continuing Professional Education.

Requirements:
  • CPA license preferred, willing to consider candidates for CPA licensure or other designation holders, such as EA’s
  • Two to four years of experience in public accounting preferred, willing to consider more or less
  • Experience working with small business, nonprofit, and individual clients preferred
  • Experience with as many of the firm’s service lines as possible is preferred (bookkeeping, payroll processing, tax preparation, tax planning, business advisory and financial statement compilation and review services)
  • Experience with professional tax, general ledger, payroll and client portal software preferred
  • Commitment to handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity
  • Reliable, strong work ethic, ability to prioritize to meet tight deadlines and a commitment to exceptional client service
  • Organized and flexible with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • High level of efficiency, accuracy, attention to detail, and responsibility
  • Excellent computer, communication, and problem-solving skills
Other Notes:
  • While we do our best to spread work out as much as possible, we operate in an industry that is very much tied to deadlines. You must be willing to put in extra effort at busier times of the year, while other times will be less demanding. (February-mid April is typically a more demanding time. The first week or two of a new month are typically heavier than last two weeks of each month.) That said, even in the worst of “busy season,” we would not expect you to work more than 50 hours maximum in a week, usually less.
  • This can be a hybrid role if desired. Expect mostly in-person work to start, then as trust and competence are established, we may agree on two or three days in office per week.
  • A small amount of local travel is expected (meetings with clients, networking events, etc.)
  • Willing to consider flexible work arrangements, such as schedules that would allow you to meet personal obligations like caring for children or aging parents. We are open to schedules that will average to less than 40 hours per week, as long as you can work at least 30 hours per week, and most of those hours will be during normal business hours.
  • It is our intention that the person who is offered this role would grow into a manager position in the next 2-3 years.
  • Relaxed office environment in a charming village within walking distance of great coffee shops and lunch spots
