Job summary

CFS is seeking an experienced accounting professional in San Antonio, TX to manage month-end close, financial reporting, fixed assets, and lease accounting under ASC 842. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure GAAP compliance and timely financial insights.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, CPA and/or MBA preferred, and 3+ years in progressive accounting roles with focus on fixed assets and lease accounting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
• CPA and/or MBA preferred.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with fixed assets, lease accounting, and month-end close processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, P&L) and supporting schedules.
• Compile month-end reporting packages (financials, AR aging, rent rolls, bank reconciliations) and analyses.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts ensuring accuracy and policy compliance.
• Administer fixed asset accounting: capitalization, depreciation, asset tracking, disposals and reporting.
• Administer ASC 842 lease accounting: ROU assets, liabilities, discount rates, lease classifications.
• Prepare depreciation schedules, asset/lease reports, debt compliance and loan reporting.
• Complete monthly account reconciliations, investigate variances, and document balances.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning to support growth.
• Track capital projects, POed assets, long-term fixed assets, and lease activities across lifecycles.
• Coordinate with external auditors for audits, tax filings, and reviews; support regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, profit and loss statements, and supporting schedules.
• Prepare month-end reporting packages, including financial statements, accounts receivable aging, rent rolls, bank reconciliations, and related analyses.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
• Administer fixed asset accounting, including asset capitalization, depreciation calculations, asset tracking, disposals, and reporting.
• Perform lease accounting activities in accordance with ASC 842, including:
• Calculation of Right-of-Use (ROU) assets and lease liabilities.
• Determination of discount rates and lease payment schedules.
• Lease classification analysis (finance versus operating leases).
• Recording and reporting of lease-related transactions.
• Prepare and maintain depreciation schedules, fixed asset reports, lease schedules, debt compliance reports, loan reporting, and other accounting analyses.
• Complete monthly account reconciliations, investigate variances, and prepare supporting documentation for account balances.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Assist with cash flow management, liquidity forecasting, and financial planning to support business growth and operational needs.
• Track and account for capital projects, purchase orders, long-term fixed assets, and lease activities throughout their lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors and assist with annual audits, tax filings, financial reviews, and other compliance-related activities.
• Prepare quarterly and annual disclosures related to fixed assets, leases, and other financial reporting requirements.
• Partner with Finance leadership and cross-functional teams to support reporting requirements and business objectives.
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports for management as needed.

Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• CPA and/or MBA preferred.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably involving fixed assets, lease accounting, financial statement preparation, and month-end close processes.
• Experience with fixed asset accounting, depreciation, capitalization policies, and asset lifecycle management.
• Working knowledge of ASC 842 lease accounting requirements and GAAP principles.
• Experience supporting external audits, tax compliance, internal controls, and financial reporting activities.
• Strong understanding of financial systems, accounting processes, and complex accounting transactions.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, experience with ERP and financial reporting systems preferred.
