Job summary

Total Aviation Staffing in San Antonio, Texas is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Accounting & Finance team. You will support financial reporting, revenue recognition, cash management, and month-end close activities.

The role is suitable for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys detailed data analysis, variances, and a fast-paced aviation environment. In-office, full-time with responsibilities across GL, reconciliations, and reporting to the CFO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Knowledge of GL, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
• Experience with revenue recognition and unearned/deferred revenue.
• Proficiency in AP, AR, and general accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP, complex formulas).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and meet monthly deadlines.
• Willingness to work full-time in-office in San Antonio, Mon-Fri.

Responsibilities

• Analyze flight-trip costs, including direct and operational expenses.
• Conduct revenue and profitability analysis and investigate significant variances.
• Manage revenue recognition accounting, including unearned and deferred revenue and trip completion analysis.
• Prepare bank and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account analysis.
• Assist with monthly financial reporting and supporting schedules for the CFO.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts and support liquidity and cash management activities.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax requirements, including aviation-related tax regulations.
• Provide backup support for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Accounting, and Inventory Accounting.
• Perform other accounting and financial duties as assigned.
