Job summary

Ledgent-Finance- seeks a hands-on Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller to support inventory, cost accounting, and financial reporting in a manufacturing setting. This role partners with the Controller to ensure accurate valuation, cost tracking, and robust accounting operations.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and analytical, comfortable with both transactional and month-end processes, and prepared to grow into broader strategic financial management.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience in manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-intensive environments.
• Strong understanding of inventory accounting, cost accounting, inventory valuation, and manufacturing financial processes.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation.
• Experience researching and resolving complex inventory and transaction issues.

Responsibilities

• Analyze inventory transactions, costing variances, and inventory reconciliations.
• Support product costing, inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventories.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies related to inventory, AP, AR, and cash.
• Assist with financial reporting, sales tax filings, 1099 reporting, and other compliance requirements.
• Partner with operations to improve inventory controls, reporting accuracy, and accounting processes.
• Provide cross-functional support across core accounting functions as needed.

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller to support inventory, cost accounting, and financial reporting within a manufacturing environment. This role will work closely with the Controller to ensure accurate inventory valuation, cost tracking, financial reporting, and overall accounting operations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working across both transactional and month-end accounting functions.
