Job summary

Gallagher Bassett seeks a Senior Accountant in Rolling Meadows, IL to support financial reporting, GL consolidation, and month-end close. You will partner with management to deliver accurate financial results and drive process improvements.

Ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in accounting/finance, 5 years of related experience, and strong Excel skills. JDE experience is a plus. This on-site role offers growth and a dynamic, team-oriented atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and 5 years of related experience required.
• Broad knowledge of accounting practices and ability to prepare strategic recommendations to management.
• Proficiency in Excel.

Responsibilities

• Present recommendations to management based on analysis.
• Prepare financial statements and/or public reports (balance sheet, statement of cash flows, etc.).
• Most complex activities with general ledger, financial reports, and budget analysis.
• Produce timely, accurate financial information including P&L, balance sheets, and group consolidations.
• Post accruals/prepayments, reconcile intercompany accounts, P&L and balance sheet accounts, manage fixed asset register, CAPEX controls & reporting, monthly consolidation reporting pack, statutory accounts, and tax analysis with tax function.
• Review the work of and train less senior staff on financial compliance issues.

How You'll Make An Impact

We are hiring a Senior Accountant for our Gallagher Bassett team!

This role will be responsible for:

• Presenting recommendations to management based on analysis.
• Preparing financial statements and/or public reports (balance sheet, statement of cash flows, etc.).
• Most complex activities associated with general ledger, financial reports, and budget analysis.
• Producing timely, accurate and reliable financial information, including preparation of P&L, balance sheets, and group consolidations.
• May post accruals/prepayments, reconcile intercompany accounts, P&L and balance sheet accounts, manage & control the fixed asset register, capital expenditure controls & reporting, produce monthly consolidation reporting pack, produce statutory accounts, compute corporate tax (in conjunction with tax function) and/or analyze cost center reporting.
• Reviews the work of and trains (formally or informally) less senior staff on financial compliance issues.

About You

Required:

• Bachelor's degree (Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration) and 5 years of related experience required.
• Requires broad knowledge of accounting practices/principles and preparation of strategic recommendations to management.
• Proficiency in Excel.

Preferred:

• 2-3 years of related experience.
• Experience with Accounting Month End Close Process.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Accurate in completing work with a high attention to detail.
• Process improvement mindset.
• Experience with JDE is a plus.
