Job summary

bioLytical Laboratories Inc. seeks a Senior Accountant to support month-end close, prepare consolidated IFRS/US GAAP financials, and manage US/Canada tax filings. The role involves bank reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, and coordinating with internal teams on coding accuracy.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation with audit and tax experience.
  • Post-secondary education in business administration, accounting, finance or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP with financial statement presentation.
  • Experience using large ERP systems.
  • Experience with stock options and share capital.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience with BOMs in manufacturing environments is ideal.
  • Public company experience preferred.
  • Experience with Avalara, US sales tax and related tax filings is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support month-end and year-end close, consolidated statements, and reconciliations.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated reporting packages (IFRS/US GAAP).
  • Prepare US and Canadian corporate tax filings and respond to inquiries.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, cash flow forecasting and covenant reporting.
  • Assist in regulatory filings in Canada and USA; support audits.
  • Manage inventory related accounting and cost of goods sold accuracy.

Job details
  • Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will apply solid technical accounting background supporting the month-end and year-end close, consolidated financial statements, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow projections, audit preparation and internal control maintenance.
  • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated reporting package in accordance with IFRS or US GAAP.
  • Analyze complex accounting issues, research and summarize financial analysis and provide recommendations of accounting treatment in accordance with IFRS.
  • Prepare filings for US and Canadian Corporate Income Tax while responding to all external inquiries.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliation, monitor bank balance and manage cash forecast.
  • File monthly, quarterly and annual bank covenant reports and all VAT, GST/HST, US State Sales and US tax returns while maintaining accuracy of customer exemptions.
  • Support month-end close by reviewing and posting complex journal entries, accruals, allocations and other duties as assigned.
  • Monitor monthly inventory balances and related Cost of Goods Sold account to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Update monthly actual to budgets and liaise with department partners to ensure coding is accurate and any variances are reasonable.
  • Coordinate and claim R&D tax incentives and government funding.
  • Lead quarterly interim reviews and annual audit.
  • Submit all statutory and regulatory filings as required in Canada and USA.
What you bring
  • A CPA designation with experience in audit and tax.
  • Post-secondary education in business administration, accounting, finance or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards such as IFRS, application of standards and overall financial statement presentation.
  • Previous experience using large ERP systems.
  • Experience working with numerous share capital and stock options.
  • Proficiency with MS Office with an emphasis on Excel (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Previous manufacturing experience with exposure to complex Bill of Materials (BOMS) is ideal.
  • Experience working in a public company is preferred.
  • Experience with tax software (Avalara), US sales tax and US GAAP is considered an asset.

Salary and benefits
  • The annual base salary for this job ranges from: $85,000-95,000. bioLytical's pay range is based on multiple factors including experience, education, job-related skills, and equity within the team or organization.
  • Salary $ 23.00 to $ 64.00 HOUR hourly.
