Job summary

Granite City Electric Supply Co., Inc. in Quincy, MA is seeking a Senior Accountant to maintain accurate financial records, perform complex account reconciliations, and support month-end and year-end close processes in compliance with GAAP.

You will contribute to financial reporting, assist with external audits and regulatory needs, and help improve accounting processes and internal controls. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and at least two years of accounting experience;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Accounting required.
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience with ERP or accounting software (e.g., Eclipse, Oracle, Great Plains, Peachtree)

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for general ledger, balance sheet, and income statement accounts.
• Prepare fixed asset accounting including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and reconciliation.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and financial data is accurate and complete.
• Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded in the general ledger in accordance with GAAP.
• Assist with external audits, including preparation of supporting schedules and workpapers.
• Assist with tax, regulatory reporting, and compliance requirements as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiency.
• Maintain and document accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, payroll, operations, and external partners.
• Participate in and support special accounting projects as assigned.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Accounting required
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience
• Public accounting experience a plus
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Experience with ERP or accounting software (e.g., Eclipse, Oracle, Great Plains, Peachtree, or similar systems)
