Job summary

Gills Point S Tire & Auto in the Portland, OR area is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. The role focuses on ensuring accuracy of financial reporting across multi-entity, multi-state operations and partnering with Controller, FP&A, and Operations to manage close processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of public accounting, audit, or corporate accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and US GAAP
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial partners
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts including cash, prepaid, fixed assets, accruals, AP, and other key accounts
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Maintain accounting schedules and supporting documentation in accordance with US GAAP and company policies
  • Perform account and variance analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Partner with cross-functional departments to resolve accounting questions and support business initiatives
  • Support internal and external audit activities, including interim testing and annual financial statement audits
  • Assist with financial compliance across multiple states and business entities
  • Maintain fixed asset records and track capital expenditures for new store openings, remodels, and equipment purchases
  • Support lease accounting (ASC 842), including new lease setup, modifications, and monthly accounting
  • Assist with inventory accounting, cost of goods sold analysis, inventory reserves, and cycle count reconciliations
  • Prepare and support multi-state sales and use tax filings
  • Reconcile intercompany transactions and assist with consolidations and eliminations
  • Prepare schedules supporting ownership reporting, lender compliance, and financial reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with FP&A and Operations leadership to research and explain financial performance at the store and regional level
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and increase the efficiency of the monthly close
  • Provide support to Accounts Payable, Payroll Accounting, or other accounting functions as business needs require

As we continue to expand across multiple states, we're looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Accounting team. About the Role

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across our multi-entity, multi-state operations. In this role, you'll partner closely with the Controller, FP&A, and Operations teams to manage the monthly close process, maintain balance sheet integrity, support audits and compliance, and provide financial insights that help drive business decisions.

What You'll Do

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Experience with lease accounting (ASC 842)
  • Familiarity with private equity-backed or rapidly growing organizations
