Title: Senior Accountant

Employment Type: Contract- 6-12 months based on performance and company needs

Contract Rate: Up to $40.00/Hr. based on skill and experience.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented accountant to join our team. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded. The accountant will ensure the accuracy of ledger entries, reconcile subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger, and prepare complex financial reports such as balance sheets and profit and loss statements. Additionally, the accountant will analyze current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to predict future financial performance. This role may also involve guiding and mentoring lower-level accountants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Journal Entries and Account Analysis: Prepare journal entries, analyze accounts, and assist the accounting manager with monthly closing and accounting reports.
  • Financial Information Compilation: Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries for accounts, including the general ledger, and document business transactions.
  • Accounting Procedures: Maintain and coordinate the implementation of accounting and control procedures.
  • Discrepancy Resolution: Resolve and correct billing, inventory, costing, and other accounting discrepancies.
  • Process Documentation: Prepare documentation of processes and procedures and recommend improvements.
  • Account Reconciliations: Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and research and explain variances to trends, budgets, and prior years.
  • System Monitoring: Monitor and review accounting and related systems’ reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Budget and Financial Document Preparation: Prepare and review budgets, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents.
  • Trend Analysis: Analyze revenue and expenditure trends, recommend appropriate budget levels, and ensure expenditure control.
  • Policy Explanation: Explain accounting policies to staff and recommend, develop, and maintain financial databases, software, and manual filing systems.
  • Data Supervision: Supervise the input and handling of financial data and reports for the company’s automated financial systems.
  • Audit Interaction: Interact with internal and external auditors to complete audits.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Required Skills:

  • At least 3 years of accounting experience (5 years preferred).
  • Knowledge of pertinent state and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Understanding of accounting theory and the application of principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in financial record keeping and reporting.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial and statistical data.
  • Experience in assembling and preparing data for reports.
  • Strong office and computer skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare, examine, and verify financial reports.
  • Capability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
