Ibex Consulting is a financial management consulting firm that helps high-growth technology companies scale via strategic finance, accounting & ops, and grant management services. We are seeking a Senior Accountant to assist with standard month close procedures and client onboarding. This is a remote position with travel required at least once a year for an annual onsite.

You are a great fit for this position if you:

• Have worked in (or with) a venture-backed startup
• Have worked in Public Accounting
• Have experience with startup tools such as QBO, Gusto, Rippling, Ramp, Carta, Fathom, HubSpot, Slack, GPT teams, etc.
• Have strong opinions about the way CoA, Class, Location, and Customers should be set up in QBO
• Have experience cleaning up messy accounting records
• Have experience setting up and managing integrations to the accounting system
• Have experience running close meetings and/or managing a P&L
• Say the F-word a lot

You will achieve Unicorn status if you have experience with 2 CFR 200 compliance and FAR part 31 regs.

Responsibilities:

• Month Close & Accounting Oversight:
• Review work completed by in-house or client bookkeepers and close 15-20 client books monthly
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and relevant regulations
• Perform and troubleshoot account reconciliations
• Assist in preparing complex invoices/grant vouchers and submit on WAWF, ASAP, VIPERS, Research.gov, and other portals as needed
• Perform variance analyses and discuss financial and operational insights with client teams
• Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and accounting procedures with client executives
• Client Onboarding:
• Gather necessary documentation and client information, e.g., articles of incorporation, cap table data, fundraising and employee equity agreements, loan documents, etc.
• Assist in accounting cleanup and setup efforts for new clients
• Assist operations team in accounting integrations such as payroll and AP platforms
• Other:
• Manage client communications and requests
• Oversee client ad hoc reports (e.g., cash flow forecasts)

Necessary Qualifications:

• 3+ years accounting experience at a startup or public accounting firm
• Deep knowledge of QuickBooks Online and varying integrations (Ramp, Brex, Gusto, Rippling, Avalara, etc.)
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have Qualifications:

• 4+ years accounting experience working in or with venture-backed organizations that have federal grants or contracts
• Proven track record of leading client engagements (e.g., strategic implications of financial results, leading rate negotiations, leading compliance efforts)
• Experience working across DoD, DoE, NSF, and NIH is highly desirable

Compensation & Benefits:

• $75,000, negotiable based on experience
• 5% 401k with 1-1 match
• ICHRA - $320 for individual, $520 for couple, $800 for family per month
• 20 PTO days and 10 Holidays
