Job Summary

Provides accounting services such as analyzing records, preparing budgets and monitoring financial statements. Focused on highly complex accounting concepts. The position coordinates scheduling and efforts of staff, trains and mentors staff, and prepares, reviews and/or approves accounting transactions of a complex nature. It also includes preparing and analyzing financial reports, recommending and implementing changes in accounting policies and procedures, and assisting in the maintenance of accounting.

Responsibilities
  • Performs monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts, as assigned, ensuring adequate supporting documentation is maintained.
  • Prepares bank account reconciliations with proper backup and support for review by the Controller and external auditors, maintaining supporting schedules and roll forwards as required.
  • Prepares sales tax returns.
  • Coordinates and assists with regulatory reporting.
  • Performs daily bank functions.
  • Maintains the fixed asset system (FAS) and its monthly reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Researches and resolves variances.
  • Performs and coordinates variance analyses for all entities of the facility per the end of month closing schedule and direction of the Controller.
  • Prepares analysis/reports that demonstrate meaningful interpretations of accounting data and advise administrators of potential opportunities for operational improvement and other relevant matters.
  • Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Requirements:
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related field or equivalent minimum experience.
    • Experience: Three to four years of accounting/financial experience.
  • Special Skills:
    • Ability to interact with both management and corporate office staff.
    • Close attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work under stressful situations.
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of related financial information.
    • Must demonstrate general accepted accounting principles and adhere to corporate accounting guidelines.
    • Advanced knowledge of computer software including Excel; attention to detail and calculations.
  • Preferred Requirements:
    • Knowledge of healthcare accounting.
