Job summary

High Country Search Group partners with a growing organization in Ontario, CA to add a Senior Accountant to its accounting team, offering a balance of general accounting, tax, reporting, and project work.

The role requires learning the organization and systems, becoming a dependable resource across the accounting function, with a focus on month-end close, tax compliance, and financial reporting.

Hybrid schedule, with 3 days on-site per week, base salary range and bonus potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• 3+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience in public accounting, SaaS, technology, or related environments preferred.
• CPA strongly preferred but not required.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and financial statement understanding.

Responsibilities

• Support the month-end close process with journal entries and reconciliations
• Perform flux and variance analysis and review financial results
• Assist with revenue and customer billing review
• Oversee sales tax filings and related compliance activities
• Work with Avalara and research tax notices as needed
• Coordinate federal and state income tax matters
• Manage business licenses, registrations, and renewal deadlines across multiple jurisdictions
• Support budgeting, forecasting, audits, and financial reporting
• Assist with due diligence and other ad hoc accounting projects
• Help maintain internal controls and GAAP compliance

The team is looking for someone who can step in, learn the organization and systems, and become a dependable resource across the accounting function.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Support the month-end close process, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Perform flux and variance analysis and review financial results
• Assist with revenue and customer billing review
• Oversee sales tax filings and related compliance activities
• Work within Avalara and research tax notices as needed
• Coordinate federal and state income tax matters
• Manage business licenses, registrations, filing deadlines, and renewals across multiple jurisdictions
• Support budgeting, forecasting, audits, and financial reporting
• Assist with due diligence and other ad hoc accounting projects
• Help maintain strong internal controls and compliance with GAAP

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
• 3+ years of relevant accounting experience
• Experience within public accounting, SaaS, technology, or a related environment preferred
• Public accounting tax experience is highly valued
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statements
• Hands-on experience with month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations
• Exposure to sales tax and tax compliance
• CPA strongly preferred, but not required
• Experience with Dynamics 365, Salesforce, Avalara, and/or Power BI is a plus
• Self-starter who is comfortable learning new systems and taking ownership

Compensation & Schedule:

• Base Salary: $78,600 - $98,200 + Bonus
• Hybrid schedule - 3 days on-site/week
