Job summary

Uphold, a fintech company, seeks a Senior Accountant to join the Accounting team in a fast-paced environment. You will own key month-end close activities, prepare journal entries, analyze variances, and support audits and process improvements to strengthen controls as the business scales.

This role reports to the Controller and offers opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders while contributing to accurate financial reporting and scalable processes.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Accounting or a related field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
• Detail-oriented with ability to prioritize.
• Proven ability to drive process improvements.
• Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end close activities with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Analyze financial statements and explain fluctuations.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and proper consolidations.
• Support process improvements and internal controls.
• Assist in implementing new accounting policies and procedures.
• Prepare schedules and reports for management and external providers.

Job Summary

As a Senior Accountant, you will join our Accounting team and support a fast-paced, high-growth fintech environment, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. You will own key month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations, analyzing financial statement fluctuations, and supporting audits and process improvements to strengthen controls and scalability as the business grows.

This position reports to the Controller.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries and reconciliations for various balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Perform financial statement analyses and document meaningful explanations for fluctuations
• Review financial statements to ensure transactions and consolidations are properly reflected and in accordance with GAAP
• Participate in streamlining and process improvement projects, enhancing the internal controls over accounting processes and systems
• Assist in implementing new accounting policies and procedures
• Prepare schedules and reports for management and external service providers
• Support external audit requirements related to specific areas of responsibility, including preparation of audit schedules
• Support management in completing special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests, and other tasks as assigned
• Support financial reporting and planning teams, as necessary

Required Qualifications and Skills

• BA/BS degree in Accounting or related field
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Strong knowledge and application of GAAP and internal controls
• Ability to execute, follow-up, and ensure attention to detail
• Commitment to process improvement and the ability to think “out-of the box”
• Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize and multitask
• High degree of dedication to improvement and strong sense of ownership
• Strong Excel is required

Bonus If You Have
