Job summary

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Legal Entity Control team and help manage accounting across regulated and non-regulated entities. You will learn corporate fund accounting, expense management, and internal/external reporting while partnering with developers to design automated reports and tools.

The ideal candidate holds a CPA, a bachelor's in accounting, and 2–4 years of Big 4 or corporate accounting experience in financial services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting and strong GAAP knowledge.
• CPA license is required.
• 2–4 years of experience at a Big 4 or corporate accounting in financial services.
• Proficient Excel; VBA/SQL and Workday experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with command-line tools and automation.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily and month-end responsibilities for regulated and non-regulated entities.
• Close monthly books, prepare financial statements, cash reconciliations, and intercompany entries.
• Collaborate with Tax, Legal, Treasury, and Payroll on intercompany relationships.
• Assist in preparing consolidated financial statements including overseas entities.
• Prepare reports for U.S. Census Bureau and Bureau of Labor Statistics.
• Support tax provisions and filings with Tax department.
• Assist Treasury in cash management and forecasting.
• Conduct accounting research and propose treatment recommendations.
• Help create automated reports and test automated tools (Workday, Unix, SQL, Python).

Job description

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking a Senior Accountant with a background in financial services to join our Legal Entity Control team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn various accounting functions within the company such as corporate fund accounting, expense management, corporate structure management, and internal and external financial reporting preparation and analysis. In addition, you will collaborate closely with developers to design and implement tools and reports related to various accounting, tax, and financial reporting processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily and month-end responsibilities associated with both regulated and non-regulated entities
• Perform month-end closing procedures consisting of financial statement preparation, cash reconciliations, recording income/expense accruals, recording intercompany transactions, and preparing capital allocation schedules
• Collaborate with Tax, Legal, Treasury, and Payroll teams on the management of global intercompany relationships
• Assist in preparing monthly consolidated financial statements, including consolidation of various overseas entities
• Prepare financial reports for U.S. Census Bureau and Bureau of Labor Statistics surveys
• Work with our Tax department to provide relevant information around various tax provisions and filings
• Work alongside our Treasury group in a cash management and forecasting capacity
• Perform accounting research on an as-needed basis and provide informed recommendations to management for proper treatment of specific transactions
• Assist in the creation and design of automated reports requested by management
• Test and utilize automated tools for reconciliation and profit reports. Automated tools can include utilizing Workday Financial Reporting, Unix commands, SQL queries, and running scripts in Python

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, excellent understanding of GAAP
• CPA license required
• 2 - 4 years of experience at a Big 4 firm, reputable public accounting firm, or internal corporate accounting in the financial services industry
• Strong Excel skills; VBA/SQL and Workday Financials experience preferred
• Hands-on experience with command-line tools, basic coding, and AI assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Codex) for professional or personal automation
• Partnership or investment accounting experience preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be detail-oriented and able to multitask with strong time management skills

The estimated base salary range for this position is 100,000 to 130,000 USD per year (or local equivalent). The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role will also be eligible for discretionary performance-based bonuses and a competitive benefits package.
