Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Senior Accountant to apply advanced accounting fundamentals to create, review and organize complex financial statements and reports. This role sits in the General Accounting function and focuses on developing and maintaining accounting processes and procedures.

The position requires 2–5 years of relevant experience, strong analytical abilities and proficiency with Microsoft Office. A discretionary bonus is available; CBRE values accuracy and timely delivery of financial data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 2-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic accounting software usage.
  • Ability to analyze data and apply sound judgment to precedents.
  • Strong organizational skills and accuracy in financial work.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial documents including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, budgets, and payroll.
  • Maintain general ledger, ensure accuracy of taxes and financial data.
  • Close month-end entries and reconcile balance sheets and P&L statements.
  • Post to GL, review variances to budget and forecast changes.
  • Review variance explanations and ensure data accuracy.
  • Track accounts receivable and ensure proper payment recording; resolve issues.
  • Assist with accounting system conversions or enhancements; educate peers.
  • Evaluate billing data and submit cash applications; manage AR issues.

About The Role:

As a CBRE senior accountant, you will apply advanced accounting fundamentals to create, review and organize complex financial statements and reports.

This job is part of the General Accounting job function. They are responsible for the development and day-to-day maintenance of accounting processes and procedures.

What You'll Do:
  • Prepare financial documents including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, budgets, and payroll.
  • Follow standards and rules when keeping accounts. Ensure the general ledger, taxes, and other financial information data are correct and up to date.
  • Close month-end accounting entries and reconcile balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
  • Post to GL and reviews variances to budget and review data to forecast changes to the business.
  • Review variance explanation reports for accuracy.
  • Track accounts receivable and confirm all payments are properly recorded. Check all accounts to make sure they have the correct balances.
  • Assist with accounting system conversions or enhancements and educate peers on changes.
  • Evaluate billing and invoicing data in the accounting databases and submit cash applications. Research and resolve accounts receivable issues.
  • Have a broad knowledge of own job discipline and some knowledge of several job disciplines within the function.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. May convince to reach an agreement.
  • Impact the quality of own work and the work of others on the team.
  • Work primarily within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Explain complex information to others in straightforward situations.

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 2-5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Advanced math skills. Ability to calculate complicated figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Senior Accountant position is $110,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Senior Accountant position is $120,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
