A Wholesale/Distribution organization near Moonachie, NJ, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to oversee the daily accounting operations for their team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for financial reporting, managing accounts payable, and ensuring tax compliance while leading and mentoring a small accounting team.

Responsibilities:

• Financial Management: Oversee daily accounting operations, prepare and review key financial statements (P&L, balance sheets, cash flow), and manage the monthly financial closing process. Ensure the accuracy of general ledger transactions and account reconciliations.
• Accounts Payable & Purchasing: Supervise the Accounts Payable staff, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of vendor payments. Manage the creation and posting of sales and purchase orders, review and approve invoices, and resolve any payment disputes with vendors.
• Tax & Compliance: Oversee all tax-related activities, including preparing documentation for quarterly and annual filings. Collaborate with external tax advisors and identify potential tax-saving strategies while ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
• Policy & Audits: Develop and implement internal accounting policies and controls. Prepare for and manage internal and external audits, collaborating with the CFO on risk management and financial reporting.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing ongoing performance feedback and assisting with recruiting, training, and development.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a senior accounting role.
• Proficiency in MS Dynamics 365 or Business Central is preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills are required.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and tax laws.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Compensation: $80,000-$100,000

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
