Senior Accountant

*Candidates must live in commuting distance to St. Francois County, MO*

Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant with a strong understanding of full-cycle accounting to lead our accounting team. The ideal candidate will bring excellent analytical skills and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP principles. This role will oversee a broad range of accounting activities and provide leadership to the accounting team, helping to foster a collaborative and accountable work environment. The position is intended to grow into a Controller role over time.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting, in accordance with GAAP.
• Manage the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to support business decision-making.
• Support external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries; ensure financial records are complete and accurate.
• Monitor changes in accounting standards or regulatory requirements and update internal policies and procedures as needed.
• Handle insurance oversight, including reporting and renewals.
• Provide support to other accounting functions and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities
• High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Self-motivated team leader with strong communication skills and the ability to work across all levels of the organization
