Job Responsibilities:

Join WCS as a Senior Accountant and play a key role in supporting the financial health and mission of our organization. This position offers the opportunity to apply your accounting expertise to meaningful work while partnering with leaders across the agency.

Pay Range: $73,000 - $80,000

Essential Functions:

Performs Advanced and complex accountingduties that require thorough knowledge and application of generally acceptedaccounting principles, practices, concepts and requirements that impact theoperations and management of the agency.

Prepares requisitions, billings and periodic reports to funding sources.

Maintains General Ledger by preparing journal entries for month-endclose, performing variance analysis, identifying discrepancies, conductingresearch and conferring with agency leadership and funding sourcerepresentatives to resolve issues.

Reconciles various balance sheet accounts as assigned.

Prepares various financial analysis and reports.

Assists with the preparation of the annual financial statement audit bymaintaining supporting schedules and analyses.

Works with development and agency leadership in the preparation ofbudgets for proposals as well as other budget requests from funding sources.

Participate in the preparation and maintenance of annual budgets andperiodic forecasts.

Contributes to the development of new oramended accounting systems, processes and procedures.

Serves as backup to various functions in theAccounting Department on an as needed basis.

Assists with special projects assigned by theManager of Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting Manager, and the ChiefFinancial Officer.

Job Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and at least five years ofrelevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experiencethat demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accountingprinciples and practices.

Ability to usegeneral technological skills throughout daily job i.e., Email, Internet,company specified systems, (ex. Microsoft 365, Windows, Word, Excel).

Meet all the employee requirementsincluding references, criminal background check, and driver’s license check.

Non-profit and grant accountingexperience preferred, and advanced skills in working with Excel spreadsheetsand accounting software.Must possessthe ability to multi-task and be a fast learner.

Communication - Reports directly to the Manager of Financial Planning andAnalysis. Has contact with funding sources, employees, supervisors, andprogram directors in writing and oral communications.

TechnologicalAptitude - Ability to use generaltechnological skills throughout daily job i.e., Email, Internet, companyspecified systems, (ex. Microsoft 365, Windows, Word, Excel).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
