Job summary

Hoxton Circle is partnering with a highly respected organization to identify an accomplished Senior Accountant in Menlo Park. The position combines hands-on accounting with opportunities to strengthen processes and systems while maintaining day-to-day responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, and strong GAAP knowledge. CPA is preferred, and experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Hands-on audit preparation and audit support experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Strong month-end and year-end close experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform general ledger accounting, sub-ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and other core activities.
• Perform month-end and year-end close activities.
• Take hands-on ownership of assigned audit preparation and support.
• Prepare schedules, documentation for external audit requests.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and non-routine transactions.
• Support cash disbursements, banking activities, and other operational accounting responsibilities.
• Partner with colleagues to research transactions and resolve questions.
• Assist with financial reporting and other accounting analyses.
• Support improvements to accounting processes, systems, and workflows.
• Participate in accounting projects and initiatives.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical accounting expertise with hands‑on audit experience, along with the ability to take ownership, solve problems, and help strengthen accounting processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Accountant who enjoys remaining hands‑on, can independently manage day‑to‑day accounting responsibilities, and is systems‑savvy and interested in identifying ways to strengthen accounting processes.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Perform general ledger accounting, sub‑ledger account reconciliations, journal entries, and other core accounting activities.
• Perform month‑end and year‑end close activities.
• Take hands‑on ownership of assigned audit preparation and support
• Prepare schedules, documentation, and supporting information for external audit requests
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and non‑routine transactions
• Support cash disbursements, banking activities, and other operational accounting responsibilities
• Partner with colleagues across the organization to research transactions, explain accounting information, and resolve questions
• Assist with financial reporting and other accounting analyses
• Support improvements to accounting processes, systems, and internal workflows
• Participate in accounting projects and other initiatives as the organization continues to evolve

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• CPA preferred
• A combination of public accounting and private‑industry accounting experience is strongly preferred
• Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Hands‑on audit preparation and audit support experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting
• Strong account GL and subledger reconciliation experience
• Strong month‑end and year‑end close experience
• Ability to independently research and resolve accounting issues
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong MS Excel experience
• Sage Intacct experience is helpful but not required
• Hands‑on experience working within a mid- or large‑tier ERP is required
• Strong technology aptitude and an interest in improving processes through systems and emerging tools
