Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have specific examples of simplifying large data sets using Excel.
• Intellectually curious in a dynamic environment.
• Strong writing, verbal and presentation skills.
• Experience with monthly accounting close preferred.
• Experience using AI tools, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Compile, review, analyze, and record financial information to the general ledger; complete monthly closings.
• Prepare balance sheet, P&L, and consolidated financials and reports.
• Prepare reconciliations to ensure accurate GL data.
• Execute and manage timely, accurate transactions.
• Identify control weaknesses and propose remedial changes.
• Design and produce reports and conduct analyses.
• Provide information to auditors and consultants as needed.
• May design or maintain accounting systems for proper recognition of transactions.
• Support staff accountants as escalation point.

PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Senior Accountant at our Tysons, Virginia location. The primary purpose of this job is to apply comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, concepts, practices, and standards in performing complex duties related to preparing and analyzing financial information to record transactions, prepare reports, and review and verify accuracy. This position will also work with consultants, auditors, and others to analyze and provide information on operational, reporting, or system impact related to policy changes and new products; contribute to special projects; and may train staff.

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

Pay Transparency

The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $60,000.00 - $132,840.00This position is eligible for an organizational performance based annual bonus, subject to board discretion and approval.

This position is eligible for an individual performance based annual bonus.

• May perform moderately complex accounting projects or participate as a team member on highly complex projects.
• Act as point of escalation for Staff Accountants
