Job summary

Woods + Dangaran, a Los Angeles-based award-winning architecture and interior design firm, seeks a Senior Accountant to lead financial operations. You will ensure accurate reporting, maintain internal controls, and support project-based accounting across national commissions.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will manage the general ledger, cash flow models, billing, payroll, and HR finance functions while collaborating with Principals and the Interiors Procurement team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred but not required.
• 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within AEC or design industry.
• Strong expertise in project-based accounting and revenue recognition.
• Experience preparing full financial statements independently.
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, payroll systems, and Excel.
• Fluency in English with valid long-term US work status.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and oversee monthly close.
• Prepare routine financial statements and maintain documentation to support tax filings, financial reviews, and audit readiness.
• Develop and maintain project-level and firm-level cash flow models based on WIP schedules and in coordination with Director of Operations.
• Oversee and execute monthly billing in coordination with Principals and Director of Operations, ensuring billing aligns with contract terms, project schedules, retainers, reimbursables, etc.
• Oversee and execute AP and AR.
• Provide regular and clear reporting and analysis on project profitability, fee performance, cash position, and potential operational risks.
• Support Interiors Procurement team, including overseeing vendor payment processes, verifying and processing wire transfers, tracking client retainers, and P.O.s against vendor balances.
• Oversee and process semi‑monthly payroll
• Support firm HR functions such as employee benefit plan and 401(k) plan administration, and annual benefits renewal
• Establish and maintain internal accounting controls appropriate for firm size and compliance needs
• Identify and implement system and process improvements to enhance efficiency, improve accuracy, and better internal workflows.

The Senior Accountant serves as the firm’s accounting lead, overseeing all financial operations. The role combines hands‑on execution with financial oversight and advisory support, ensuring accurate reporting, maintaining internal controls, overseeing project-based financial tracking, and providing clear financial insight to leadership.

This role reports to the Director of Operations and works closely with the Firm Principals and Interiors Procurement team.
