This Jobot Job is hosted by: Carrie Powell
Salary: $70,000 - $88,000 per year
We are a well-established, privately held organization headquartered in Southwest Michigan with a diverse portfolio spanning hospitality, entertainment, food and beverage, live events, development, and professional sports.
Our continued growth and diverse operations have created a sophisticated accounting environment with multiple business lines, high transaction volumes, and unique revenue streams. Our Finance team works closely with operational leaders and plays an important role in helping the organization understand performance, improve processes, and make informed business decisions.
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of a major live entertainment venue and professional sports organization.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical side of accounting but wants to get closer to the business. You'll own meaningful portions of month-end close and financial reporting while gaining exposure to budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and the operational activity behind live events and professional sports.
Unique accounting environment - Gain exposure to professional sports, live entertainment, hospitality, food and beverage, and event-driven operations.
Broad financial ownership - Lead meaningful portions of close, financial reporting, reconciliations, variance analysis, and internal controls.
Interesting revenue streams - Work with ticketing, concessions, sponsorships, merchandise, special events, and venue operations.
Get beyond the numbers - Participate in budgeting, forecasting, KPI reporting, and financial analysis that supports business decisions.
Partner directly with operations - Work alongside department leaders to understand results, research variances, and improve financial performance.
Make an impact - Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, improve processes, and increase the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting.
Long-term career exposure - Join a diversified organization where you'll gain visibility into finance initiatives across multiple businesses and industries.
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to become a key member of our Finance team. This individual will support a complex, high-volume operation and take ownership of significant components of the month-end and year-end close processes.
The ideal candidate has a strong technical accounting foundation but is also analytical and curious. We want someone who doesn't simply produce financial statements—they understand what the numbers mean, recognize when something doesn't look right, and are willing to dig in to determine why.
Direct sports or entertainment experience is not required. We're most interested in finding a technically strong accountant who enjoys complexity, understands financial reporting, can work independently, and wants to understand the business behind the numbers.
