Job summary

DO & CO in New York is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our hospitality-led team. You will maintain the General Ledger, manage month-end and year-end closes, set up payroll and accounts payable accruals, and prepare journal entries across multiple entities.

The role requires at least 5 years of accounting experience, strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with international cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in hospitality or food production.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles and best practices.
  • Proven ability to solve problems resourcefully and effectively.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with manual data entry systems and a hands-on approach to work.
  • Ability to collaborate with international and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working with multiple departments and external vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the General Ledger and manage month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Set up payroll and accounts payable accruals and deferrals.
  • Prepare journal entries and allocation entries across multiple reporting entities.
  • Create intercompany invoices and reconcile intercompany accounts.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Analyze revenue and expense accounts for accurate monthly reporting.
  • Maintain the fixed asset schedule and calculate depreciation.
  • Reconcile company credit card accounts.
  • Supervise accounts payable invoice processing for correct coding and postings.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and variance reports.
  • Document and maintain internal controls.
  • Support tax return preparation and corporate reporting requirements.
  • Research, resolve, and respond to accounting inquiries.
  • Coordinate and supervise audits (internal, external, tax).
  • Prepare multi-state sales tax returns.
  • Analyze financial reports and provide insights to management.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintained the General Ledger and managed month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Researched, resolved, and responded to internal and external accounting inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Coordinated and supervised internal, external, and tax audits.
  • Prepared multi-state sales tax returns.
  • Analyzed financial reports and provided requested reporting and insights to management.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a similar role, preferably in the hospitality or food production industry.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas and functions) and Microsoft Word.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles and best practices.
  • Proven ability to solve problems resourcefully and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with manual data entry systems and a hands‑on approach to work.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within international and cross‑functional teams.
  • Experience working with multiple departments, all levels of staff, and external vendors.
  • Ability to work long hours on foot and in environments with varying temperatures.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) based on business needs.
