Job summary

gpac seeks an accounting leader to implement and oversee accounting and financial management processes for a mid-sized department or area. This role contributes to fiscal health by ensuring accurate records and compliant practices.

Ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance with 3+ years of professional accounting experience and at least 2 years of supervisory experience guiding AP staff; experience with invoice processing and AP is required.

Job Summary

Leads the implementation of accounting and financial management processes for a mid-sized department/agency or specialized accounting functional/technical area. Performs professional accounting duties that contribute to the fiscal and financial management of a large work unit in a centralized accounting operation.

JOB-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

• Knowledge of governmental accounting and auditing principles, practices, procedures, methods, and theory.
• Knowledge of computerized accounting systems including automated accounting systems and their applications.
• Knowledge of the specific accounting and reporting requirements and the complete accounting cycle of the organization.
• Knowledge of budgetary procedures and controls.
• Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices, and procedures.
• Knowledge of applicable laws, policies, rules, etc. related to financial services operations.
• Knowledge of personal computers using word processing, spreadsheet, database, and accounting software.
• Ability to schedule, assign, monitor, review, and evaluate the work of assigned subordinates.
• Ability to analyze and audit accounting, fiscal, and payroll data, reports, and statements.
• Ability to prepare accounting and audit records, statements, and reports.
• Ability to develop computer-based spreadsheets, graphs, summaries, and reports.
• Ability to collect, organize and evaluate data and develop logical conclusions.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate Will

• Possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related
• Possess three (3+) years of professional accounting experience.
• Have a minimum of two (2) years of proven supervisory or managerial experience and can guide assigned accounts payable (AP) staff; review staff work for accuracy for 20 employees.
• Have experience with and overseeing invoice processing, payments, and all accounts
• Ensure proper pre-audit of all expenditures and audit for compliance with statutes, laws, and policies.
• Have the ability to develop weekly, monthly, and annual reports for senior management and external parties

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or business-related field and three (3) years of experience as a professional accountant.

Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience would reasonably be expected to provide the job-specific competencies noted above.
