Job description

Transcend, Inc. is a fast-growing, Twin Cities–based medical device company on a mission to change how the world sleeps. Our travel CPAP device — small enough to fit in the palm of your hand — helps people sleep better, travel easier, and live fuller lives wherever they go

This role is responsible for owning the day-to-day accounting operations at Transcend and working cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, and leadership to ensure the financial integrity of the business. The Senior Accountant serves as the engine behind our month-end close, reconciliations, and tax compliance — keeping our books clean, accurate, and audit-ready.

This is a highly visible role reporting directly to the Controller. The main focus of this role will be to own and execute the full month-end close cycle, including AR review, AP reconciliation, prepaids, depreciation and amortization schedules, and vendor contract reconciliation.

This position is ideal for candidates who enjoy being hands-on in a fast-moving accounting environment, working independently with minimal oversight, and taking real ownership of the numbers that drive business decisions. We’re looking for someone who is naturally curious, isn’t afraid to dig in when something doesn’t add up, and has the drive to figure things out rather than wait to be told what to do.

The primary responsibilities for this role include the following:

Day-to-Day Accounting
  • Prepare and maintain daily reports of micro, accessories and revenue spreadsheets.
  • Review and create credit memos for RMA transactions.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations independently and in a timely manner.
  • Enter credit card charges into QuickBooks and gather supporting receipts.
  • Assist in reconciliation of contract manufacturing receivables and payables.
  • Handle ad hoc reconciliations as they arise.
Month-End Close
  • AR review and aging analysis.
  • Prepaid inventory and expense schedules.
  • Depreciation and amortization schedules.
  • Assist in preparation of other balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items and compliance with accounting policies.
Tax & Compliance
  • Manage sales tax research, filing, and compliance across applicable jurisdictions.
  • Stay current on sales tax requirements as the business grows into new markets.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies. Participate in special projects, technical accounting analyses, and ad hoc financial reporting requests.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited four-year university
  • 5–8 years of full-cycle accounting experience — AP, AR, GL, bank rec, and month-end close.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online or Desktop).
  • Strong understanding of month-end close processes, U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
  • Advanced Excel skills — reconciliation workbooks, pivot tables, formulas.
  • High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and clear communication across departments. A natural curiosity and desire to dig in, figure things out, and get to the right answer.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, systems or process improvement is a plus.
  • Experience with multi-state sales tax filing.
  • Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred
  • Public accounting experience
Compensation
