Job description

Alliance Resource Group is partnered with a VC backed clean energy technology company to find a hands‑on Senior Accountant who will help build a world‑class accounting function from the ground up. This is a high‑impact role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys creating order where little structure exists, and wants to shape the systems and processes that scale with a fast‑growing business. You will play a central role in the monthly close, drive process improvements, and partner closely with Finance and Operations to establish the financial infrastructure the company needs as it grows.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the month‑end close end to end, including journal entry preparation and review, account reconciliations, flux and variance analysis, and adherence to the close calendar for accurate, timely financials.
  • Own key close areas such as fixed assets and depreciation, prepaid expenses, accruals, payroll, and cash and bank reconciliations, keeping supporting schedules accurate, complete, and well documented.
  • Support general ledger maintenance and help refine reporting segments and financial structure to match the evolving needs of a growing business.
  • Build monthly reporting packages and deliver financial analysis, including trend and variance commentary, KPI tracking, and ad hoc analyses that give leadership and investors clear visibility into performance.
  • Act as an accounting resource on operational and technical questions, translating requirements for non‑finance partners.
  • Strengthen process documentation, including desktop procedures, system relationships, and process narratives, as opportunities surface during the close.
  • Contribute to system implementations and expansions across ERP, AP automation, and expense management.
  • Help maintain accounting policies and internal controls that keep financial records accurate and audit‑ready.
QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, including hands‑on month‑end close and financial reporting and analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self‑starter with strong organizational skills and comfort operating amid ambiguity.
  • Clear communicator who collaborates effectively across teams.

Preferred

  • Licensed CPA.
  • Experience at a startup, high‑growth, or similarly fast‑paced environment, with a track record of building processes from scratch.
  • Experience supporting or leading an ERP or systems implementation.
  • Exposure to a VC‑backed company and familiarity with investor reporting.
  • Public accounting background (Big 4 or regional firm).
  • Experience supporting external audits or audit preparation.
SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE
  • QuickBooks, NetSuite, Ramp, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
