Company & Position Overview : Our client, an international, nonprofit trade organization with US headquarters in downtown Denver (30 employees in the Denver office), is hiring a Senior Accountant. Reporting to the VP, Finance and Accounting, the Senior Accountant plays a key role in the financial oversight for international markets. The major responsibilities of the Senior Accountant are liaising with funding organizations, facilitating financial statement analysis, and overseeing billing processes for assigned funding sources.

Specific Job Responsibilities :

• Review and analyze international Cash Needs Reports and related vouchers / journal entries
• Manage accounts receivable billing and monthly reconciliation, monitor aging reports, and follow up on outstanding items to ensure accurate and timely processing
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial account reconciliation, including accrual calculations and post related general ledger entries
• Serve as a funding source liaison, overseeing budget coordination, billing processes, and audit preparation
• Develop and maintain the Dues Revenue amortization schedule and related entries
• Prepare and post monthly revenue recognition entries

Monthly International :

• Collaborate with international staff to meet deadlines and produce general ledger and month-end close reports
• Review international vouchers and general ledger entries to ensure compliance with the regulatory framework; identify and resolve possible compliance issues
• Review international balance sheet account reconciliations; follow up with international accountants as needed
• Provide guidance to international staff on regulatory and budget-related matters
• Review budget reports and present analysis at monthly meetings

Periodic :

• Funding source compliance audit work as assigned
• Financial year-end audit work as assigned
• Prepare sponsorship and annual membership invoices
• Cross-train with other Senior and Staff Accountant responsibilities to support the department functions
• Special vendor or account analysis as assigned
• Some travel may be required

Qualifications :

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience required
• Sound foundation in accounting principles; international general ledger experience desired
• Experience conducting internal audits, compliance reviews, or public accounting desired
• Experience with commercial electronic banking processes a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs
• Strong computer skills including familiarity with general ledger systems; MS Dynamics Great Plains experience a plus
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and work toward multiple deadlines concurrently
• Strong communication, organizational skills, and deadline focus
• Culturally attuned
