About This Role

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting Covereds financial health through accurate record-keeping and analysis. This role involves managing general ledger activities, preparing financial statements, assisting with audits, and providing insights for strategic financial decision-making. Additionally, the Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations. This role is crucial in handling compensation, tax filings, and benefits-related deductions.

Role Accountabilities Include, But Are Not Limited To :

• Perform monthly close tasks including financial analysis, ensuring completion of checklists, reconciliations, and participate in external audits.
• Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time for all employees.
• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure proper documentation.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Review vendor invoices and post daily to accounts payable. Ability to investigate and resolve problems associated with processing invoices.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, and internal policies.
• Prepare and file tax reports, including corporate, sales, and payroll taxes.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support management in decision-making.
• Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations.

About You And Your Experience

• Education : Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• Experience : 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
• Experience in InsurTech or FinTech industry is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of internal controls and risk management (preferred).
