Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field required.
• 5+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close, GL accounting, journal entries and reconciliations.
• Experience with AP/AR and US GAAP is essential.
• Proficient Excel skills; detail-oriented with good problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities with journal entries and accruals.
• Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Support AP/AR activities and tax reporting tasks.
• Assist with fixed asset records, depreciation, and reconciliations.
• Support financial reporting, variance analysis, and management reporting.
• Assist inventory accounting, counts, and analysis.
• Collaborate with operations to improve reporting accuracy and processes.
• Support audits and provide schedules; identify automation opportunities.
• Contribute to ERP enhancements and accounting projects.

GHJ Search & Staffing is partnering with an established international organization to identify a Senior Accountant for its growing accounting team in Cypress, CA.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys working across the full accounting cycle and wants exposure to a product/inventory-driven environment. The Senior Accountant will play an important role in month-end close, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, AP/AR, tax compliance, financial reporting, and process improvement.

What You'll Do:

• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies
• Support and review Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities
• Assist with sales/use tax and property tax reporting and reconciliations
• Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and related reconciliations
• Support financial reporting, variance analysis, and management reporting
• Assist with inventory accounting, including inventory reconciliations, cycle/physical counts, and related analysis
• Partner with operations and other departments to resolve accounting issues and improve reporting accuracy
• Support external audits and provide schedules and supporting documentationIdentify opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve accounting processes
• Assist with ERP enhancements and other accounting projects

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Approximately 5+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience
• Strong hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Experience working with AP and AR
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
• Strong Excel skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to investigate discrepancies and independently solve accounting issues
• Comfortable working in a hands-on, deadline-driven accounting environment

Highly Preferred:

• Experience within manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, inventory, or another product-based environment
• Sales/use tax and/or property tax experience
• Inventory or cost accounting exposure
• ERP experience, particularly JDE or Oracle
• Experience improving or automating accounting processes
• CPA or prior public accounting experience
• Multi-currency or international accounting exposure

$90,000 - $110,000 a year

Schedule: The position will be fully onsite during the initial 2-3 month training period. After training, the position will transition to a hybrid schedule of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.
