Job description

Role and Responsibilities

Reports directly to the Director of Finance of the Gibby Group. The Senior Accountant is responsible for executing the month‑end close process and preparing financial statements and management reports for review. The Senior Accountant will:

• Perform month‑end close tasks across assigned entities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations, in accordance with the close calendar.
• Prepare entity‑level financial statements and supporting schedules for review by the Director of Finance and Controller.
• Review reconciliations and journal entries prepared by the Staff Accountant, providing feedback and corrections before items are finalized.
• Maintain the general ledger, ensuring account balances are accurate and reconciling items are cleared timely.
• Prepare draft management reports and financial summaries to support monthly reviews.
• Handle more complex or judgment‑based accounting items, such as fixed assets, depreciation schedules, intercompany transactions, and inventory.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual budgets by providing historical data and account‑level detail.
• Support the Controller and external accountant during audits and reviews by preparing requested schedules and documentation.
• Identify and recommend improvements to close processes and accounting procedures.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• BS/BA in Accounting or Finance, or relevant and equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3‑5 years of accounting experience, including month‑end close and financial statement preparation.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Excel and accounting/ERP software.
• Experience reviewing the work of junior accounting staff is a plus.
